I thought they were good for their teeth and also divert them from chewing on the wrong things. A friend told me she heard the chewies could cause internal tears and bleeding. I heard that about chicken bones but never about rawhide.

I have two dogs, a pitbull/retreiver mix and black lab/retreiver mix, and the one is about 5 years old while the other is getting close to being 8. The main problem is that they have been raised in a household where there were hardly any visitors besides the mailman and a few friends etc. Now that we have moved, we have more people over and there is more excitement around the house. My two dogs do not stop barking. And they continue even if you tell them to stop and such, they go on and on. Eventually, if someone is in the house long enough, they will stop barking and rest…but then as soon as that person gets up to get a drink both dogs jump to their feet and start loudly barking once again. I was considering getting shock collars for them both to try and stop most of the barking but I wanted to get advice from you guys first. Thanks!

I have a 9 week old pure bred German Shepherd pup and I only want the absolute BEST for her! She is currently on Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy Food, which I’ve always thought was good but I read the ingredients and corn meal is listed as the second ingredient so now I’m not so sure it’s the best. I’ve always been told that the first 4 ingredients listed on a bag of dog food should be meat and not grains or by-products. I am thinking about getting into dog shows with her and possibly breeding her when she’s old enough. She is like one of my children and I really only want the best for her.

My Beagle weighs around 45 lbs and that is too much for him. Should I feed him in the morning as well as the evening meal?

The puppy is an Aussie/Lab mix and is INCREDIBLY cute. (You know, like… a puppy.) What’s your advice to a new puppy owner? I’ve already told her that the pup is a bit young, so socialization is super-important here.
Links to articles about training & socialization, titles of books you recommend, etc, would be great! Thanks!
The vet is taken care of, so is the adoption fee and such. She adopted this puppy from a shelter in Utah.

Why does my dog put her paw on my arm when I pet her? She doesn’t do it every time but enough to where I notice it’s not a conensences. She’s a 2 year old lab and has been doing it for a while now.
I don’t have a problem with it. I just never had a dog do that before.

My dog was in my front yard (no fence), ran after the other dog, presumably to play. The other dog had some staples that tore a little. A tussle (no biting) ensued between the two dogs. The owner jumped on top of both dogs, and re-injured his back.
He wants me to pay the vet bill, and for his time lost at work 3 days, which he claims is 00.
Am I stupid to just give him a grand to make the problem go away?
I had my hand on my dog, I turned away for a moment, and she dashed away. His dog was on a lead!
