My dog is a shih tzu.I’m always nice to him, but when he miss behaves i usually lock him in his cage where he sleeps at night for about 2 minutes. Sometimes when hes playing with his toys he comes to the room where people are because he doesn’t like to be alone. one time i was sitting on a chair and he comes with his favorite chewing toy and i watch him play, suddenly he jumps and tries to bite me, I immediately leave. He always does this when I’m around him and hes playing. Can you tell me how to train him to stop?

My dog goes out regularly everyday and she still pees and poops in the house! We’ve tried puppy training mats and she poops and pees next to them instead! I don’t understand what we’re doing wrong! She goes out for walks everyday too. How do i stop it? Thanks for any answers!

My father, who has slight vision problems, accidentally bought my 11-month Pembroke Corgi ‘large breed’ puppy food at the store.

It’s already too late to exchange it. Thus, would there be much of a difference compared to a ‘small breed’?

My vet told me my dog had a bad cough from being intubated. He was put on vanectyl p for it but he’s not better. I just got the idea from here that it could be kennel cough. My vet might have just assumed it was from the tube. Is kennel cough really bad? Can he wait until morning? Or should I go now?

I really really really really don’t like the idea of using a choke collar on my miniature schnauzer, but the two book i’ve read specifically written for mini schnauzers say I need to use one. I don’t like the idea of the "quick snap and release." It will get his attention, but it’s still choking. I’ve also watched It’s Me or the Dog on Animal Planet, and the professional on this show completely abhores using choke collars? What do you think? Should I give in and use a choke collar on my highly stubborn dog, or should I try different methods for training?
thanks, I like the clicker training idea. i think it would be good for him to have some type of consistent praise like a clicker. I’ve never heard of a head collar, but i’ll look it up. I wanna try everything i can before i resort to choke or prong collars.

I have had my beagle almost 2 years now, and we also have a rat terrier male. They get along great! But a couple days ago we got a new lab and my beagle is so jealous of her. This may sound silly, but my beagle acts like she is mad at me. She won’t come to me and she won’t even look at me. She’s been the baby for so long and I still love her, how do I get her to stop acting this way or will it just eventually happen over time?

Ive looked everywhere for a 2 year old golden retriever on petfinder and stuff but either they are all puppies or Theyr to far away from were I live!
Please help me I cant get one from a pound or a rescue center I can only get one from an animal shelter and I have the same problem with the Australian Shepherd! HELP

If he has his collar on, I mean. I haven’t been able to find anyone who has actually had a dog, wearing a collar, go inside his crate and somehow manage to hang himself.
