Schipperke Dog Behavior can be slightly challenging to those dog owners who are not used to a dog who feels slightly independent as well as a dog who may challenge other dogs. It does not know of it’s own size limitations and often believes it is in charge.

They are not a very large dog, and the males are usually 11 -13 inches and females range from about 10 - 12 inches. They coat is straight, somewhat harsh and dense but soft and are usually black and somewhat lighter on the undercoat.
The schipperke dog breed is a wonderful breed and they are usually courageous, playful, energetic, willful and somewhat independent. If they are not strictly trained from an early age, they may be difficult and possibly test your will. They crave attention and activities as they are a very energetic dog and love lots of activity. They are very curious about everything and although, full of exuberance and energy, they can be a great companion and still be a quiet and peaceful bedside canine companion.
Just like any breed of dog, you should get a good idea of their temperament before you plan to adopt one.
