I hear arthritis is one of the main reasons dogs are put to sleep, what can i do to stop my dog from getting it?

would you try to help and grab the leash? Or let the dog run into the street. Because that happened to me a few hours ago. My dog saw a stray dog at the park and squeezed through a small hole in a fence I didn’t even think a cat could fit through and took off down the road. He had his leash and harness on and I was running after him screaming his name. 3-4 people saw him running toward the main street in my neighborhood and actually moved out of the way. One guy actually climbed up onto a fence!! My dog ran into the street and came INCHES away from getting hit by a car. Luckily it was light enough out and the driver was paying attention and slammed on his brakes and my dog ran back to the sidewalk so I could grab him.

If it were me and I saw a panicked owner running after a dog with a leash (so clearly it wasn’t a stray) I would at least TRY to grab the leash. What would you do?

My mom and I are going to get a rescued dog. We originally were going to get a puppy from a pet store, but I found a video on YouTube that TOTALLY opened my mom’s eyes and mine.

Anyway, we live near two "pounds". I guess they’re pounds? They’re spca stuff. Anyway, we are going to get a dog from there or a local rescue group in our area.

I was wondering, how healthy are dogs in the pound? I got my dog George with my dad from the pound, and he was healthy, but aggressive. Just look at my dad’s scarred hands! Haha. Now he’s an angel after nonstop training (and old age.) But, on average, are pound dogs healthy?

Also, on personal opinion, are pounds better or rescue groups like Rover Rescue and Canine Crusaders, etc?

Do I have to get capsules with glucosamine and chondrotin? or containing glucosamine,chondrotin and msm?…or are capsules only containing the right amount of glucosamine sulfate sufficient?

If I’m going to travel with my dog to a few different countries all in one trip and each country requires a dog health certificate, is there a way I can renew the certificate while I’m traveling. Also do I need to get a dog passport if I live in the united states?

I am trying to teach my puppy to be a guard dog. You see, my mom is trying to get rid of my 2 month old chihuahua, so when a person come and try to take him home, i want him to bite them so they will not take him, my puppy is very shaky. when i first got him he would not let any one to touch him, but he got used to me and lets me touch him without him crying. How do you train him to bite strangers and not learn to bite me? And is it too early to train him because he is 2 months?

I have a 1 year half pug hald beagle dog. He is a great dog in all aspects but lately (past month) he seems to want to bark at everything he sees. Even when there is nothing there is still barks. How do i get him to stop?
And i had a dog trainer for 3 months…this is the one thing bad behavior wise that has remained…

My yorkshire terrier (a dog) is licking the couch. he will jump up and start licking it. We wash the couch all the time. No food or drink is in the couch. How do I make my dog stop?

Okay we have a 1 year old poodle and a 8 month old Jack Russell mix.

We got the Jack Russell mix when our poodle was 7 months old.

Our poodle sometimes I don’t think he realizes he is a dog but anyways he tends to be a bit stand offish but we’ve noticed some interesting behaviors lately.

First of all our JRT mix is potty trained (though she was difficult to train) but she doesn’t come get us when she needs to potty she goes and sniffs by the door and if we aren’t paying attention we may end up with an accident for some reason she doesn’t want to speak up. Well over the last month or too our poodle had been asking to go outside (we let them both out together) and most of the time he doesn’t have to go but she does, we recently realized he is telling us to take her out.

Even though he is kind of stand offish and I think he sees her as an annoying little sister he is very protective of her

Now yesterday I was really proud of him our mix is teething a bit still and she got into a wire, well Our poodle came and got us and we didn’t get why he was barking but he kept jumping off the bed and I looked over and she had chewed through the cord to the PSP and it was plugged in. It actually shocked me a bit when I took it away from her. He quick barking after that.

Sometimes I think he thinks she is his dog LOL

Anyways is this normal behavior or do I just have a really good poodle?

I typically only ever had one dog at a time (that was the rule in the house when I was growing up so this is all new)

Like I said he really doesn’t pay much attention to her and well she totally gets in his personal space all the time.

But I didn’t know if this happens with other dogs too. I think they really do love each other
Yeah I think he really does look out for her. which i didn’t think they would ever get along. He was very spoiled before her and didn’t like her much at first.

Also why shouldn’t she be potty trained by 8 months. Our poodle was completely potty trained by 6 months of age. And I’m home with them so
also when when a dog barks at her outside, she sort of cowers and then the poodle will bark at it
