Since its colder out I figured some dog owners may not want to walk their dogs due to the weather. So…i’m going to start a dog walking service. How much should I charge and how far should I walk the dogs?

Charge about $5, How far you walk it would depend on the breed of the dog, you wouldnt want to walk a tiny dog 2ks, and you wouldnt want to walk a Border Collie 500m.
I suppose it depends, you should do a survey in your neighbourhood asking how much they would be willing to pay for you to walk their dog/s, you could also do a survey on Y!A, but every neighbourhood is different.
In my city dog walking companies charge $7 for a 30 minute walk.
The prices you charge are going to depend on the dog’s ability to walk well on lead (the harder they are, the more you charge) and how much time each needs to walk (more energetic/hyper dogs should be walked 2-3 hrs a day). Make a list of varying prices to be sure you cover all potential situations.
Normally I charge 10 dollars for a mile walk in the summer but i would definately charge at least 20 in the winter. You also need to keep in mind the size and body fat of the dogs, and how long they should be outside normally by the time you are cold with all of your coat and things on the dog will be cold also. It is a good rule of thumb.
Your rates depend on where you live. In NYC, dog walkers charge around $15 for 30 minutes. Check your local Craigslist ads and see what the dog walkers are offering their services at. You can charge a little more if you promise that you will walk the dog by itself, or with only one other dog.
